Who We Are

From inception in 1972, we have played an integral role in the supply and support of communications systems in western and northern Canada.

OUR MISSION

Today, that means engineering, deploying, maintaining and monitoring some of the north’s premier telecommunications equipment for a variety of client types: First Nation, territorial and municipal governments, public utilities, construction, mining and exploration, and small businesses – to name a few. Utilizing technology selected from best-in-breed – employees who have the knowledge and commitment to deliver, experience tested by some of the harshest conditions found anywhere and a philosophy anchored by service – we can say with confidence that Total North is well-conditioned to continue to expand our leadership role within our sector. At the heart of this success, we are a well qualified, dedicated personnel with a set of core operating principles that guide how we do business.

Total North - Our Mission
Total North - Technical solutions

Total North has integrated technical solutions with a focus on providing an elevated standard of service.

Strengths

One of the strengths of Total North is its logistics team. This team is made up of a management group with oversight of the executive. The team meets multiple times weekly ensuring all scheduling decisions and updates are handled in compliance with customer requirements, our safety program and Total North’s core values. With multiple business units, Total North has valuable experience juggling priorities and maximizing the efficiencies of its technical staff to meet and exceed our customer’s timelines and quality of service.

Included in the structure of Total North is a pool of technicians available for timely deployment for situations that require rapid response (24 business hours). The Service Manager has multiple technicians at his disposal to schedule jobs that require a quick turn-around if out-of-scope assistance is required.

Total North has vast experience operating in the corporate environments of Whitehorse and Yukon communities, British Columbia, Northwest Territories & Nunavut including First Nation government areas, understanding the sensitivity and confidentiality of the work environment. This involves an attention to detail, meticulous labelling and ensuring work is acceptable to the customer as well as maintaining a clean, tidy workplace during and after the installation.

Our experience in the mining and technical services sector requires the appropriate documentation and sign-offs to ensure customer satisfaction. Technicians regularly require post project documentation that is provided to their managers for review.

Health, Safety & Environment

Total North Communications Ltd. is committed to providing and maintaining a safe and healthy working environment for all of our employees. It is our priority to provide quality service to clients while taking all necessary steps to prevent injury to our employees, partners, clients, and the public.

COR Certified since 2012, the prevention of injuries continues to be our goal above all else. When it comes to safety training, we train employees based on the principle that everyone gets home safe. We do this through our comprehensive Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) program, which meets and exceeds all the requirements of the Yukon Workers’ Compensation Health and Safety Board, who govern safe operating procedures for the prevention of injury, disease and property damage.

Our HSE program is introduced to employees on their first day of employment and throughout their tenure by way of continuous training and the conduct of routine safety procedures such as a job-site-analysis (JSA) performed at each site. We believe accident prevention and efficient production can go hand-in-hand and, accordingly, insist on a dedicated participation in the program requirements. Total North is familiar with working in an industrial environment and takes full compliance with site requirements.

We at Total North will continue to offer all of our employees a challenging and interesting work environment, while exceeding our industry recognized Health and Safety standards.

Not everybody is ready for the North. The scale, the wilderness, the lack of infrastructure, and the huge distances from the jobsite to Tim Horton’s are all factors that become real only once you’ve been there. Those realities define the place we call home, provide us with incentive to be innovative, and challenge us to provide real solutions for our customers. We’re prepared to do what it takes to provide the solutions our customers need from smart ideas to willing hands.
